Federal Development has signed four new tenants as part of its $75 million remake of Huntington Shopping Center in the town of the same name on Long Island’s tony North Shore.

J.Crew has taken a lease for a 7,766-sq. ft. space and Williams Sonoma will open a 5,317-sq.-ft. store at the renovated and re-curated open-air center that is adjacent to Walt Whitman Mall on Huntington’s Route 110 retail corridor.

Other new arrivals already opened at the 21-acre property include REI, Lovesac, Burger Village and Just Salad, and Federal Development reports that several yet-to-be-announced will be found on the center’s marquee in 2024.

“By introducing big names such as Williams Sonoma and J. Crew to our tenant mix, we hope to continue to appeal to high-caliber tenants for our remaining small shop opportunities to round out the center's offerings,” said Chris Fleming, Federal’s VP of asset management at Federal Realty. “The decision to redevelop Huntington Shopping Center has proven successful in attracting premier national brands to expand into this market.”

Waterfront residential property on Long Island Sound is abundant in Huntington, whose average household income tops $130,000. Cold Spring Harbor, Lloyd Harbor, and Huntington, Centerport, and Northport harbors form the city’s piece of the North Shore. Huntington maintains a total of nine beaches on the strip.

That geographical feature made Huntington—which was founded in 1653—a key shipping port for the movement of agricultural products throughout America’s original colonies. In more modern times, the “101 Corridor” developed into a major commerce line housing sizable commercial business and manufacturing enterprises.

When completed next year, the remade Huntington Shopping Center will present 277,000 sq. ft. of retail. Longstanding tenants at the property include PetSmart, Ulta, Tilly’s, Michaels, Vision Works and Verizon.
