Walmart and Infosys are partnering to help retailers with activities like last-mile delivery.
Walmart is making some of its proprietary store-level technology available to other retailers, with help from a global consulting firm.
The discount giant’s Walmart Commerce Technologies solution provider subsidiary is partnering with Infosys to offer a new app for store associates called Store Assist. Infosys will help retailers implement and use the app, called Store Assist, which is designed to support seamless omnichannel offerings such as pickup, delivery and ship from store.
The Store Assist app is built on the same fulfillment technology used at Walmart stores. It is intended to help retailers optimize in-store fulfillment by increasing picking accuracy, speed, and efficiency; as well as enhance store associate productivity through order queueing, multi-order batch picking and prioritized pick paths.
The app is also designed to let retailers provide a seamless handoff experience between employees and customers during omnichannel transactions such as picking up orders in-store or curbside, having purchases shipped from store, or fulfilling last-mile delivery from store stock.
Store Assist is a cloud-based, API-first solution developed to seamlessly integrate into a retailer's existing commerce or order management system, including dedicated integrations with out-of-the-box capabilities for Salesforce and Adobe platforms.

“Infosys is a trusted partner to businesses that are navigating their digital transformation,” said Sunil Kumar, VP and GM of Walmart Commerce Technologies, “We are excited to have Infosys help streamline implementation of the Store Assist app and to serve as a trusted system integration team for our customers.
“To navigate an increasingly complex supply chain and serve the modern intelligent shopper the way they want, retailers are looking for innovative ways to deliver seamless omnichannel experiences with convenient fulfillment options,” said Karmesh Vaswani, executive VP & global head – consumer, retail & logistics, Infosys. “Infosys is proud to work with Walmart Commerce Technologies to enable retailers to implement Store Assist, thereby improving digital retail experience for customers and store employees."
In another example of Walmart creating a third-party version of its proprietary technology and services to provide other retailers, Walmart launched Walmart GoLocal to deliver goods to customers of other businesses in August 2021. The retailer has since partnered with e-commerce platform provider Cognetry Labs to provide an integrated white label, turnkey e-commerce delivery solution to mid-sized and independent grocery retailers.
Headquartered in Bentonville, Ark., Walmart Inc. operates more than 10,500 stores and numerous e-commerce websites under 46 banners in 24 countries.
