  • Trendy food options liven up North Dallas center

    The re-making of Preston Royal Village in North Dallas is being headlined by two gustatory giants of the day.
  • Refinanced Boulder center opens with 90% occupancy

    NewMark Merrill Mountain States this week issued a double-barreled press release: It closed on a $62 million refinancing of the Village at the Peaks and opened the Boulder-area center at close to 90% capacity.   The $100 million, 442,000-sq.-ft. had been under development for five years in a public/private partnership between NewMark Merrill and the city of Longmont. New financing was provided by Allianz Real Estate of America.  
  • Art Van rounds out Illinois Power Center

    Art Van Furniture will take over a 34,000-sq.-ft. space vacated by H.H. Gregg at Gurnee Town Center in Illinois, according to owner Retail Properties of America, Inc. The electronics chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.   Art Van will bring the center to 98% occupied, according to RPAI, joining DSW, Old Navy, Starbucks, Ross Dress for Less, Five Below, and Bath & Body Works at the center west of Waukegan.  
  • Food and bed highlight OKC center’s expansion

    Three restaurants and a hotel claimed four of the seven new out-parcels The Market at Czech Hall in Oklahoma City.   Developer GBT Realty announced that Hooters, Arby’s, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, and Sleep Inn have signed leases at the 160,000-sq.-ft. “regional neighborhood center” on Interstate 40.  
  • Burlington to open in Sears hole at Magnolia Mall

    PREIT announced that it has fully leased the space vacated by Sears at Magnolia Mall, nine months after the store closed shop at the Florence, South Carolina, property.   Burlington opens in a 46,000-sq.-ft. space there this week. It will be joined by HomeGoods (20,000 sq. ft.) and Five Below (8,500 sq. ft.) in the spring. Also slated to open at that time is a 20,000-sq.-ft. H&M store.  
  • Herberger’s backfills Macy’s hole in LaCrosse

    Herberger’s has moved to a new location at the Valley View Mall in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, “right-sizing” to a 100,000-sq.-ft. space in a spot recently vacated by Macy’s. Herberger’s was the sixth tenant to backfill vacant department store space at a PREIT-owned mall this year.  
  • Old Navy joins historic makeover in Michigan

    Presidential candidate John F. Kennedy delivered a stump speech there not long after it opened in 1960. Legions of thriving General Motors employees kept it thriving for decades. But Tech Plaza in Warren, Michigan, suffered a crushing blow when Walmart left in 2008, and the center was nearly vacant when Detroit-based Petzold Enterprises acquired it in 2014.  
  • Marshalls expands in Maryland

    A new Marshalls location will co-anchor the Shoppes at Apple Greene in Dunkirk, Maryland, along with Harris Teeter, according to center owners Echo Realty and Marrick Partners.   The 21,000-sq.-ft. location will be Marshalls’ first in Calvert County, due south of Baltimore, where Marshalls operates two stores.   The 48,000-sq.-ft. Harris Teeter store is under construction at Apple Greene, a new 100,000-sq.-ft. center with an additional 30,000 sq. ft. available for lease.
