Price Chopper/Market 32 is expanding its use of the Upside app.
A regional Northeast grocer is building on its partnership with a personalized promotional app.
Price Chopper/Market 32, a banner of regional supermarket conglomerate Northeast Grocery Inc., is adding new features to its existing collaboration with the Upside platform. Via Upside, the grocer has driven 500,000 incremental transactions from 50,000 customers by offering incentivized, personalized promotions to users of the Upside app.
Now, Price Chopper/Market 32 is introducing the “Check-in” feature, which replaces the previous Upside offer verification process of snapping and submitting a purchase receipt with simply clicking “Check-in” on the Upside app.
The retailer expects this to bolster the impact of its AdvantEdge loyalty program by enhancing user reconciliation rates. In addition, Price Chopper/Market 32 is leveraging Upside's newly implemented direct data feed in an effort to further strengthen its loyalty program.
According to Price Chopper/Market 32, initial findings indicate that Upside has effectively converted 25% of non-loyalty app users that shop its stores into AdvantEdge members who now make about one additional visit per month and spend more incrementally.
"Thanks to Upside, we've made significant progress in attracting new customers and encouraging our existing ones to consolidate their food shopping with us. Deepening our partnership stands to further accelerate that growth," said Sean Weiss, Price Chopper/Market 32 VP of marketing.
"In the face of heightened competition and consumer challenges stemming from inflation, Price Chopper/Market 32 sought concrete methods to strengthen its sales strategy," said Tyler Renaghan, Upside VP of grocery. "Our partnership with them has proven mutually beneficial, enhancing both the company's bottom line and consumer satisfaction. By introducing unique, profitable promotions, the collaboration has boosted Price Chopper/Market 32’s sales while helping value-conscious consumers navigate an uncertain economic climate."
Price Chopper/Market 32 supports ad targeting, e-commerce with Instacart
In other recent moves to digitally improve the performance of its loyalty program and overall sales, Price Chopper/Market 32 (via its parent Northeast Grocery) began leveraging the Instacart Carrot Ads solution to enable its partner CPG brands to advertise directly on its e-commerce platforms and apps.
The retailer also expanded its deployment of Instacart e-commerce solutions, such as machine learning technologies that deliver more personalized recommendations to customers.
A subsidiary of Northeast Grocery Inc., Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper/Market 32 operates 130 grocery stores across New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
