Domino’s is leveraging mobile location technology to expand the range of its delivery offering.
The world’s largest pizza retailer is introducing “Domino's Pinpoint Delivery,” a new offering that allows customers to receive a delivery nearly anywhere, including places like parks, baseball fields and beaches. Customers with the Domino's app can select Domino's Pinpoint Delivery, drop a pin on the map, and get pizza delivered to almost any location.
To use the service, customers must order online, pre-pay with credit, debit or Domino's gift cards, and agree to receive up to five text notifications that provide updates on their order. Customers and delivery drivers will meet at specific locations designated in the Domino's app.
Domino's Pinpoint Delivery enables customers to track their order with Domino's Tracker, see their driver's GPS location, view an estimated time of arrival and receive text alerts about their delivery. The pizza chain will also alert customers when their delivery personnel arrives at the pickup spot, at which time they can activate a visual signal on their phone, which will help the driver spot them.

"Delivery innovation is at the core of who we are, so we're thrilled to give customers a new delivery option by allowing them to receive their order nearly anywhere, with the drop of a pin.."
Domino’s goes high-tech for order and delivery
Domino’s offers a number of technology-aided options designed to help make ordering and receiving food items easier. The company recently unveiled two new ordering options via its iOS app on Apple CarPlay, which enables a consumer to control their app using their car radio.
A new :Tap to Order” function lets customers submit their saved order or one of their most recent orders, while "Call to Order" allows them to place the order of their choice, hands-free, by talking to a customer service representative.
The retailer’s launch of CarPlay ordering is the latest feature of its “Anyware” ordering platform, which is designed to enable customers to seamlessly place orders from any location via any device. Other examples include text-based ordering.
Domino’s also leverages the Vonage voice API integrated with the Vonage unified communications solution to enhance the customer ordering experience and connect more than 6,000 franchise and corporate locations across the U.S. This includes supporting its “Intelligent Call Manager” solution, which provides personalized support for customers.
Based in Ann Arbor, Mich., Domino’s operates more than 19,800 stores in over 90 markets.
