Best Buy unwraps real-time mobile holiday deals

Best Buy is offering exclusive holiday discounts, in limited quantities, via its consumer app.

On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the consumer electronics chain is launching a new promotional program called Best Buy Drops. The campaign provides discounts on items such as product releases, limited runs, and launches, all in real time. Each drop will only be available in limited quantities and exclusively through the Best Buy App.  

Drops will include special products and deals from a variety of categories, including gaming consoles and accessories, wearable devices, e-transportation products, small appliances, smart home, and toys. Multiple drops will occur nearly every week during the holiday season. 

Customers with the latest version of the Best Buy mobile app for iOS or Android can find the Drops arrow on the navigation bar on the bottom of the app home screen. They can then see a preview of the product releases or deals landing within the next week.

Shoppers can also opt-in to a Drop Alert feature on the Best Buy app, which will send a push notification for drops featuring selected items shortly before they go live.  

Once a drop goes live, it will only be available while inventory remains. My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total loyalty program members will have access to deeper discounts on select drops.  

First drops of the season 

Here are the first two drops of the 2023 holiday season:

• Wednesday, Sept. 27: Save $70 on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (Latest Generation) 49mm Titanium Case with Indigo Alpine Loop (Best Buy Drops price: $729, Best Buy Drops price for Plus and Total members: $719). 
• Sept. 29: Save $250 on the Atari VCS800 All-In Gaming Bundle  (Best Buy Drops price: $149.99, Best Buy Drops price for Plus and Total members: $99.99). 

Best Buy takes on Amazon

Starting Sunday, Oct. 1, Best Buy is kicking off a monthlong early holiday promotion., timed to compete with the upcoming Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sales extravaganza. Every day in October, Plus and Total members of its My Best Buy Memberships annual membership program will get exclusive access to thousands of deals and discounts.

In addition, My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members who spend $500 in October will receive a $50 reward certificate to use on Best Buy purchases in December. Best Buy will also provide loyalty members early access to some Black Friday deals the weekend of Oct. 27-29.

Best Buy is also running some October holiday promotions that do not require My Best Buy Memberships participation to participate:

• Best Buy is teaming up with Samsung (Oct. 6-8) and Microsoft (Oct. 13-15) for two special sale events. Shoppers who spend $1,000 on Samsung products, including home theater and appliances, between Oct. 6-8 will receive a $100 reward to use on other Samsung products between Oct. 24 and Nov. 16. During the Microsoft event, customers can obtain offers on Xbox and Windows products, including savings up to $500 on Windows laptops.

• From Oct. 10-11, Best Buy will have a 48-Hour Flash Sale with hundreds of deals on technology items such as TVs and laptops, headphones and smartwatches, and electric transportation.

• Best Buy is hosting a three-day gaming sale event from Oct. 20-22 with deals on hardware, games and accessories.
